Author: Sara
Colors: Zing, 2. I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

Story: Polyfaceted; title of this is No Comment.
Summary: Sam tries to avoid Eileen's scrutiny. It doesn't really work.
Notes: Takes place in an alternate April 2009. Oh, Sam.

“Sam?”

Sam wasn’t fooled by her casual tone. He gave Torey a slightly-pleading look; Torey’s returning glance was not very helpful, saying quite clearly, You’re on your own. “Yes, Eileen?”

“Look at me.” He did, of course he did, because she was Eileen, and she clicked her tongue softly. “Oh, Sam. Your eye. Does it hurt?”

“It looks worse than it is,” he promised. “Minor barfight. And I made a new contact.”

She sighed. “You know I don’t like seeing you hurt.”

How did she make him feel so guilty with barely any effort at all? “In my defense, I’m usually pretty good at avoiding it.”

“Usually?” she asked, arching an eyebrow. “Just how often do you have to avoid it, Sam?”

“Um,” he said. “No comment?” He attempted to look innocent.

Eileen’s expression remained very unimpressed.

Torey snorted. “Good luck talking your way out of this one,” he said.

Sam, why do you try and hide things from Eileen? You know it never works. EILEEN KNOWS ALL.

Love this.
