“What? Are you saying you didn’t know about jackalopes?” Joelle smirked from their vantage point in the ventilation pipes of her parents’ defunct research lab..
“I did, but they aren’t--wait...” Inez stopped feeling her own forehead to stare wide-eyed at Jo. “You see them, too?”
“They are sort of there.”
Both women watched the horned bunnies, contemplating this development. “You know, I don’t recall them having wings in the legends.”
“Well--ah-ah--ahCHOO!” She banged around the ductwork with the force of her sneeze, cursing her allergies.
Like a single organism, the jackalopes turned towards the sound, rising up. Joelle stopped to watch them. “Come to think of it, I don’t remember what they eat...”
“Not us!” Inez shoved her on hastily.

*cackles at Inez* Oh, this is funny. I love things that are just little and silly. Have you by any chance read Ursula Vernon's Dragonbreath series? There's a book in there about jackalopes that reminds me of this, a little.

I love silly things, too, but they don't always come to me as easily. :|a
No! I haven't. That's kind of funny.

I need to go back and write Joelle's parents because they are mad scientists all they way through.
Frex, they couldn't have kids so they built one out of biophysics and cybernetics.
