She hadn't seen him, which was probably for the best.
She seemed...she seemed happy, or at least content, at peace. That was good. He loved her, and he wanted her to be happy, more than anything. Which was why he couldn't tell her he was there, he was alive, he remembered her now. It would just reopen old wounds.
He knew all about that.
But he'd seen that she was happy, and that was all that mattered, in the end. She'd moved on.
He stayed as far away as he could from the city they'd lived in, after that.
