Summary: Fernando apologizes to Elisabeth.
Notes: Takes place right after Aftermath
He found her sitting in the nursery holding Juan. She had her back turned to him and was speaking to their son.
“Who’s mama’s boy?” Elisabeth cooed.
“ME!” Juan yelled throwing his chubby arms around Elisabeth’s neck. She laughed and clutched him to her.
“Elisa?” Fernando asked coming up behind her.
Elisabeth turned to face him. Juan looked between his parents and gurgled.
“I brought you something,” Fernando said pulling the flowers from behind his back.
Elisabeth’s eyes lightened up, but she frowned.
“Violets are my favorite. But you know they won’t make up for the fight,” she said reaching for them.
Fernando sighed and bent down next to her and Juan. The little boy reached for his father, who chuckled and took him into his arms.
“I didn’t mean to yell at you, Elisa. It was just a reaction to stress,” Fernando said making puppy eyes at her. Juan followed his father’s suit, which made Elisabeth laugh.
“You are a not right for using my child against me, Fernando Abadesso.”
“Everything is fair in love and war, Elisabeth du Bois,” he said reaching out and stroking her cheek. She kissed the palm of his hand.
“I’d rather be called, Elisabeth Abadesso. That is my name after all,” she said smirking at him.
“Oh yes indeed. I’m sorry Madame Abadesso.”
Elisabeth smiled and stood up. She took Juan from Fernando and called for his nurse.
"Yes, Your Majesty?” Antonia said.
“I believe the prince is hungry. Make sure he eats at least half of his dinner,” Elisabeth said to the pretty young woman. Antonia curtseyed and took Juan out of his mother’s arms, eliciting a cry from the boy.
“Come little prince it’s time to eat,” Antonia said softly to the boy.
“I don’t wanna, I want my mama!” Juan yelled as Antonia took him into the next chamber.
“You’ve got a power over us Abadesso men,” Fernando said kissing Elisabeth lightly on the lips.
She smiled and stroked the curls at the nape of his neck.
“And I plan to exploit that for everything it’s worth,” she whispered. Fernando chuckled.
