Cloudy Gray #9, Greendale Green #18, Seafoam #19

Name: A Vision
Story: Tempest
Colors: Cloudy Gray #9, “multiply”; Greendale Green #18, “Profound, but technically meaningless”; Seafoam #19, “magic markers”
Supplies and Styles: miniature
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Warnings: unreality?
Summary: Selfen receives a vision from the Maelstrom.
Notes: I think it's interesting to imagine the Maelstrom communicating in a poetic and/or dreamlike way.

The Maelstrom called, and Selfen had no choice but to answer.

“This had better be important,” they mumbled.

Touch the marker to the mirror
and infinite variety
expands in fractal fashion

around you—it is blank,
until the grasses
consume what ground is left.

You cannot see the roots,
but they grow
forests upside-down,

whose canopies, tangled
insignificantly,
are easily dismantled.

Your fall is very simple.
Adrenaline
disguises this fact

by arguing that stalling
is a viable
alternative. For us,

it is best to wait
until some
stranger offers

a hand or a hint
as to how
one braids a rope.

I agree, I think the way the Maelstrom communicates is really clever! And a great poem too.
