Summary: Ahava's going to miss this.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Takes place about six months before Duncan's wedding. One of these days I should figure out what he looks like.


Leila isn't here, and Ahava is a little selfishly glad. Not that she doesn't like Leila. Leila makes Duncan so happy and Ahava can't dislike anybody who puts that kind of smile on her best friend's face. But. Sometimes she misses this, sitting on the couch with her feet tucked under Duncan's legs, just the two of them, drinking white wine and mocking (loving) the inevitable Christmas specials.

"I'm not going to stop being your friend," he tells her, during a commercial break. "I'm not ever going to stop being your friend."

"I know," she says, and forces a smile.

Poor Ahava. I hope these two can work something out, because so often the truth is that marriages distance people from old friendships.

They do, actually! I know that Ahava and Duncan remain very, very close their entire lives. It might actually contribute to the failure of his marriage, in the end, but I do know it's not the only factor, so.
