Summary: Sometimes it overwhelms you.

Notes: Personal challenge. It would've been fluff but I'm not feeling too hot.


The trouble with being the surrogate mother for six younger siblings-- apart from the obvious-- is that it overwhelms you, sometimes. You don't mind, really you don't. Someone has to take over with Mom so sick, and it might as well be you.

But sometimes you just need to shed it all, sneak away to the frozen pond with your skates over your shoulder, lace them up tight around your ankles and skate and skate and skate until your breath burns in your lungs. Twirls and jumps and figure eights until you know yourself again.

Just sometimes. But it helps.

Oh yes, I can feel this. How overwhelming it is to always have to be the responsible one, to have to put your own wants on hold even though you're still a kid yourself.

You can smell the snow in this one and it really leaves you wanted to cuddle everyone involved close. Even the snow!
