White 14, Hills of Iowa 13: Skate
Author: Kat
Title: Skate
Story: In the Heart
Colors: White 14 (as white as snow), Hills of Iowa 13 (I'm just trying to put the atom back together.)
Supplies and Materials: Fingerpainting (second person), pastels (this challenge), miniature, canvas, seed beads, modeling clay (Winter Wonderland), fabric (this), bichromatic
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: Sometimes it overwhelms you.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Personal challenge. It would've been fluff but I'm not feeling too hot.
The trouble with being the surrogate mother for six younger siblings-- apart from the obvious-- is that it overwhelms you, sometimes. You don't mind, really you don't. Someone has to take over with Mom so sick, and it might as well be you.
But sometimes you just need to shed it all, sneak away to the frozen pond with your skates over your shoulder, lace them up tight around your ankles and skate and skate and skate until your breath burns in your lungs. Twirls and jumps and figure eights until you know yourself again.
Just sometimes. But it helps.
