Author: Kat
Title: Sunrise
Story: In the Heart

Supplies and Materials: Pastels (anniversary), frame, stickers (That crusty stuff that you find in your eyes after a heavy night's sleep is called 'gound'. Other common words for it are sleep, sleepydust, sand, eye bogeys and blears.), novelty beads (you must look to the light)
Word Count: 286
Rating: PG
Summary: Ivy and Gina and the best anniversary.
Warnings: none.
Notes: For kay_brooke's prompt, Ivy and Gina's best anniversary.
Gina shook her awake at way too early in the morning, bubbling over with excitement.
Ivy rubbed at the goop in her eyes and glared half-heartedly at her girlfriend. "What the hell..."
"It's our anniversary," Gina said.
"It is not--" Ivy began, half-hearted, but Gina just shook her head.
"No, I don't care about that, it's our anniversary and you have to see the sunrise, come on."
Because Ivy loved Gina unconditionally and trusted her even more, she got out of bed with a minimum of grumbling, shrugged on her bathrobe and slippers, and followed her wife up the stairs to the roof of their building.
Gina opened the door and the cold air was like a slap in the face. "Jesus," Ivy said, but went out in it anyway, planning all the while to remind Gina of this morning the next time she got all 'don't you love me.' Then Gina turned her around.
The sunrise was so beautiful it made her chest hurt, all brilliant reds and golds bubbling up from under the horizon and pushing back the clouds. Rays streaked against the night like an old master's painting, like they should be a backdrop to an angel. Every moment the night retreated, the light spread, and it was just so beautiful, so endless and real.
"Oh my God," she said.
"I know," Gina said, "isn't it gorgeous," and she slid her arms around Ivy's waist, resting her chin on Ivy's shoulder.
Ivy tipped her head sideways to rest her temple against Gina's. "For this, I almost forgive you for waking me up so early. And for getting me out on the roof in this fucking cold."
Gina laughed, and cuddled her closer.

Also, I like that GINA was the one who got IVY out of bed. AHAHA. Keeping the readers on our toes. And being cute. Dangerously cute.
