"It doesn't fit," Miranda said, frustrated nearly to tears.

Peter leaned over her shoulder, linking his hands against her stomach and pulling her in for a quick hug. "What doesn't?"

She indicated the glass bowl she held, trying not to cry. She didn't cry. She was Miranda Hennessy, goddamnit, she did not cry, certainly not over something this stupid. "I can't fit it in, I'm sorry."

"Well, that's all right." He kissed her cheek, then took the bowl away from her. "It can wait for the next load."

"I suppose, I just..." She waved helplessly at the dishwasher. She'd wanted to show him that she wasn't... that she could...

His eyes softened, and he set the bowl on the counter, then took her hand. "Come on. Let's have a glass of wine."

I hate that feeling when there's ONE dish left over.

You made me want to hug the usually pointy Miranda over a dish.

You are amazing!

Poor Miranda. I totally get her frustration. I hope she's able to relax a bit with Peter.

It's funny in a painful way the kinds of small, irrational things that can break people who keep themselves too strong for too long.

You captured that really well here. And I'm glad she has support that understands.
