Story: In The Heart
Colors: Tractor red 7 (protect the chicks) with Nikki's paint-by-numbers (The first stray Ivy brings home.)
Supplies and Materials: Miniature, pastels (promises broken), oils (when a heart breaks), beading wire (oil tanker), canvas.

Summary: The little dog died soon after they got it to the vet.
Warnings: Animal abuse.
Notes: Direct sequel to Rage. Not the letter of the paint-by-numbers, but the spirit.
The little dog died not long after they got it to the vet.
Some part of Ivy had known it would; it was too badly hurt, the boys had done too much damage. But it had looked up at her with such trusting eyes, such belief that she would make it all better, and all she'd been able to do was wrap it up in a warm towel and make it comfortable. It had trusted her, and she'd failed it.
She felt shipwrecked, looking at it.
Ivy cradled the little dog against her chest, and wouldn't meet the vet's eyes.
