“Are you ready?”
Freya smiles and turns to face him. Her hands holding the straps of her backpack, making sure it’s hanging secured on her back. Nodding she steps forward, the look in her eyes determined and almost childishly happy.
“Let’s go then.”
Once more she nods and she takes a hold of his outstretched hand. Together they walk out of the door of their hotel room.
-
“Could you do my back as well, please?”
Nodding he takes the bottle of sunscreen, pouring some of the milk on his hand while Freya takes a hold of her hair and keeps it out of his way.
Gently he rubs her back and gives her shoulders a quick sunscreen massage. It makes Freya hum in pleasure.
“There, ready.”
She gives him a kiss before putting her sunglasses back on and starts walking again.
“That way?”
Nick laughs and shrugs, following her. “It’s one way to go.”
-
“This country is wonderful.”
They are sitting on a brick wall. Feet tangling in mid air. Enjoying their lunch. Enjoying the sunshine.
“It’s so beautiful.”
Smiling Nick wraps an arm around her shoulders. “I’m glad you like it.”
She returns his smile and turns her face towards him to kiss his lips gently. “I’m glad we came here.”
Nodding he pulls her a little close to his side, so her head is resting on his shoulder.
-
“Wow. We’ve done so much today.”
They are walking back towards their hotel. Hand in hand. Just a little bit tired.
“What was the best part of today?”
Freya bites her lips when thinking it over, before she shakes her head. “I don’t know. We’ve see so much, have done so much. I can’t chose… You?”
Shrugging he kisses her cheek, not answering.
“Hey, why are we going that way? We have to take that other road to get to the hotel…”
There’s a playful look in Nick’s eyes. “Trust me?”
She nods. “Of course I do.”
-
“…”
Nick smiles when he sees the amazed look on his girlfriend’s face.
“Wow…” An admiring whisper and she squeezes his hand gently. “I… This is… I’m speechless…”
Without another word she sets herself down, looking over the sea, sees the rock beneath her, watches how the sky turns dark blue and pink and orange and yellow.
Silently Nick sets himself next to her. His arm around her waist. Her eyes are fixed on the clouds when she lets her head rest on his shoulder.
-
“That.”
A questioning look on Nick’s face.
“You asked me what the best part of today was. That was it. That sunset. With you right next to me. Just, silently watching. It was perfect.”
Smiling he snuggles close to her, feels her naked body against his when he holds her. His hand caressing her back and side.
Gently she kisses him before laying her head on his chest. “Sweet dreams my love.”
