When Lance finally lay down to sleep, after about an hour of reading, it was on the floor of the hotel lobby in a sleeping bag; he couldn't sleep in one of the rooms, knowing he would be too far away to hear if something went wrong.

Even late into the night, Kevin found nothing concrete about the Shatter's origins, nothing in the dreamspace but a giant rainbow of pain and horror; and for the first time in a long time, he was afraid.

Diana finally collapsed on the bed next to Kevin, mid-sentence.

Peace found himself with half a dozen people all clustered around him on the couches in the lobby; they brought a coffeepot and a box of instant hot chocolate, and talked until the wee hours of the morning.

Dmitry sat next to Peace on the couch, not talking much, feeling less and less put-out, especially after Peace fell asleep on his shoulder.

In the morning, the sun rose and the storm broke, and real rainbows scattered throughout the Shatter-stained clouds.
