"The Lady Agostina" wasn't her real name. Jacinthe learned that when she was given hers.

Most of their kind had long names. Familial hierarchies. Bloodlines. Theirs... cut off. The bond was strong; it was not unbreakable.

Other families told stories about them, shunned them, as if their blood had some inherent flaw. They endured, and they thrived.

The Lady was accustomed to getting what she needed, and damn the rest. Jacinthe learned that the first moment she saw her, love etching its name onto her heart months before she was taken and reborn.
