She looks at the screen of her cell phone. Eyes wide open. In wonder. In surprise. In shock. She can’t believe it. She’s reading the words, but they don’t really register.
“What is it?”
Her boyfriend’s hand on her shoulder. Warm and comforting.
“She thinks I’m angry at her. She says I’ve been ignoring her. She thinks I’m betraying her trust…”
The same shocked look on his face. “Why would she…?”
She shakes her head, pulls up her shoulders. “I don’t know.”
A tear escapes her. “Damn it. That message hurts…”
He reaches out and she hides in his embrace.
