“Fire!”
She giggles when she sees how he loads the catapult in his hand. Just a forked-twig, an elastic and little balls of paper.
Smiling she sees how the little ones duck and run, screaming in delight, trying to avoid getting hit.
Freya’s standing at the side line, just watching, arms crossed over her chest. She had laughed when Nick came up with the idea of bringing his self-made catapult to ju-jitsu training. Thinking it ridiculous and yet a good idea at the same time.
“Freya. Help!”
One of the kids takes cover behind her back, peeking from behind her to Nick, wondering if he’ll fire when he risks hitting his girlfriend.
“I’ll get you eventually. You can’t hide forever.”
Mock glaring at him, Nick sticks out his tongue. Winking at Freya when the kid hides completely away again.
-
“I think they had fun.”
Next to her Nick nods. The broad smile still on his face.
“I think you had fun.”
Grinning Nick nods again. “Yeah, I had fun.”
They are cycling home after training ended and surprised Freya looks up when she feels the first raindrops fall on her arm.
“Rain?”
Nick looks at her and flinches when he feels it as well.
“Well, with all these clouds, it isn’t really surprising, is it?”
She shakes her head and starts cycling faster. “We’re almost at my place. If we’re lucky we won’t get soaked…”
Laughing Nick speeds up as well, not noticing the sharp object lying some meters before him.
“Wow…”
He almost loses his balance when he hits it. He only has his quick ju-jitsu reflexes to thank that he doesn’t fall.
“You okay?”
Freya stops still next to him. Both watching the front wheel of his bike. The tire completely flat.
“Shit.”
Groaning his head he steps off his bike, sees how Freya does the same.
“Sorry, I guess we’ll be drenched when we arrive at your place now. It’s not that far, but we’ll have to walk so…”
Shaking her head she takes his hand in hers.
“I don’t mind. Home means dry clothes and a shower.”
Winking she blows him a kiss.
-
She has her legs pulled up underneath her and she’s holding a cup of tea.
“That shower felt good.”
Next to her she sees Nick nod while sipping his own tea.
“Oh. It’s about to start.”
He smiles when he hears the excitement in her voice.
“How can you get so worked up over a volley game?”
She shakes her head. “Don’t know. Probably because I play it myself. I like watching it. And this is an important match. If they win, they’ll be European Champions – first time in history! And then they’ll go to the World Championship!”
She crawls a little closer to his side.
“You don’t mind watching this with me, do you?”
Her voice sounds insecure when she looks at him.
“No, I’d have told you if I really didn’t want to see it.”
She beams at him. Kissing his cheek gently. “I love you, you know that?”
Chuckling he nods. “I know. As you know that I love you.”
Nodding she lets her head rest on his shoulder.
-
“Oh, come on!”
He almost laughs when he sees how she’s acting in front of the television. Jumping up and down the couch, wringing her hands together. Mumbling when someone does something she would have done differently.
“No. Don’t drop that ball!”
She throws her arms up in desperation.
“How can’t you let that one fall? You could see him fake from miles away. Why didn’t you catch it?”
Gently he pats her back.
“Argh. I give up.”
Defeated she slumps back in the couch, taking his hand in hers. The game is exciting. 2-2 in sets. And this last one decides everything. They are racing for it. 17-18 in points in the last set. It ends once a team has 2 points more than the other one.
A missed service of the adversaries and a wonderful attack of them, takes them to 19-18 and another match ball.
“Oh, just finish it already!”
She’s squeezing Nick’s hand, only barely not a painful grip. She knows he’ll tell her otherwise.
“Woho!”
Smiling she turns to hug her lover. “They made it!” Enthusiastically she kisses him. Her fingers tangling in his hair.
“Thanks. For watching with me.”
He just smiles and kisses her again. Equally passionate as she just a couple of seconds earlier, but a little less fierce. More tender. Slower.
She moans in his mouth when his hands start caressing her back and her sides. Fingers playfully brushing over her nipples.
Blindly she reaches for the TV remote. Shutting it off and focussing on his lips and his hands and his body against her.
“So… What do you think?”
Biting her lip, she smiles slyly. “I think we are both overly dressed…”
She can see the twinkling in his eyes when he picks her up and carries her over to the bedroom.
