"Freya!"
She looks up when she hears Nick yell out her name.
'Up?'
Smiling she shakes her head. He's sitting on a branch, halfway a tree. The look on his face is that of a super happy five year old. Ecstatic.
"Oh, Freya, tell him to come down..."
Some of Nick's friends are standing at the base of the tree. Some of them rolling their eyes. Some worried. Some annoyed. All of them wanting him to get down on the ground again.
"Yeah, tell him. He's your boyfriend. Perhaps he'll listen to you..."
Smirking Freya walks over. Placing her handbag on the ground at their feet. Looking at the tree, wondering, before looking up. She can see it in his eyes. He will come down if she asks him.
Giggling softly, she reaches out a hand to the first branch. She can hear the sharp intakes of breath behind her and when she looks up again, she can see the beaming smile on her lover's face.
For a second she closes her eyes before she places her foot against the bark, pushing herself off so she can pull herself up on the branch.
Without wasting time she reaches out for the next branch and the next and the next. Until she is sitting next to Nick.
"Hey beauty."
She smiles and kisses him in response.
"Freya. Why are you joining him? You're not a kid like he is. You're older and more mature. What are you doing up there?"
A cheerful laugh echoes down from the tree and Nick wraps his arm around her shoulder, kissing her cheek.
"Thanks."
She looks at him, questioningly, when she hears him whisper in her ear.
"What ever for?"
Nick just smiles, letting their eyes lock for a moment, before kissing her again. She knows what he means... Knows perfectly well what he means.
"It's not because I am five years older than you that I don't like to climb trees."
They both know she'd never do this kind of things if it wasn't for him though... But she means it.
"To the top?"
She follows his gaze upwards. Wondering if she can make it, she has never been really good in climbing. Not enough strength in her arms if she has to really pull up her whole weight without support.
"If you help me get there."
When she looks at him again, he holds out his hand to her. It makes her smile. It are these little things that makes her love him even more.
Together they make it to the top in no time. Freya staying closest to the tree trunk, Nick right behind her. His chest pressed against her back, his arms around her.
"Wow."
His warm breath against her neck.
"Yeah, the view is stunning from up here."
Smiling Nick lets his hands slide over her sides.
"You are indeed."
Her eyes open widen and for a second she doesn't know how to react. Biting her lip she turns her head to look at him. There is a blush covering her cheek and there are butterflies roaming through her body.
"I love you." Placing a tender kiss on her lips.
"Shall we go down again?"
She laughs when she hears the yells of his friends. It takes them five minutes to reach the ground. Together they walk further, the entire group having agreed on escorting Freya home. Some of them still muttering under their breath that they have to grow up instead of climbing trees.
There is a shy yet a happy look on her face when Nick takes her hand in his. No matter that they have been together for two years already. It still makes her feel special.
They are walking a little behind the others. Just listening to their bantering. It makes Freya chuckle softly.
She inches closer to his side, letting go of his hand to wrap her arm around his waist. Automatically his own arm circles around her shoulders.
"Thank you."
Once again she looks at him in surprise when she hears the words.
"Why are you insisting on thanking me?"
Gently she rubs his back.
"For not telling me I'm acting like a kid. For not telling me to start acting my age and to get down. For actually joining me..."
Smiling she makes him stop - they're almost at her home anyway. The hand that is resting on his side takes a hold of his sweater. Her free hand travels up to his face, resting on his cheek, while she turns her body towards him.
Slowly she tiptoes and places a kiss on his lips. Almost moaning when he answers and wraps both his arms around her, pulling her completely against his body.
"Nick, are you coming or are you staying here?"
Smiling Freya pulls away, winking at him when she sees the small pout on his face.
"I'll see you this evening."
Tiptoeing she places another kiss on his lips before walking over to his friends.
"See you next time guys. And have fun this afternoon."
They wave and she walks the last steps to her apartment. Turning around at the front door, watching them walk away. Blushing a little when he turns around and blows her another kiss.
