She tilts her face to drink the autumn rain,
twining tracks forging pathways along her,
dropping with little ceremony
into the puddles at her feet.

Twining tracks forging pathways along her,
like the new life growing inside her.
Into the puddles at her feet,
dead leaves fall to belie it,

Like the new life growing inside her,
however, they make way for new life to come.
Dead leaves fall to belie it,
but she knows that this, too, shall pass.

However they make way for new life to come--
and sometimes it hurts more in the short run--
but she knows that this too, must pass;
even if it has to be rebroken first, like a bone that healed wrong.

Sometimes it hurts more in the short run.
She, who has borne nine children, knows it all too well.
Even if it has to be rebroken first, like a bone that healed wrong,
in the end, they will be stronger for this.

She, who has borne nine children, knows it all too well.
For all she’s stepped away, for all she keeps her distance,
in the end, they will be stronger for this.
Her tenth child grows inside her, and she needs to know it’s true.

For all she’s stepped away, for all she keeps her distance,
some things never change, and some things never will.
Her tenth child grows inside her, and she needs to know it’s true,
that this is a time when suffering brings new life.

Some things never change, and some things never will.
She breathes in, and out, watching the dead leaves dance, and knows
that this is a time when suffering brings new life.
She smiles, at peace, and tilts her face to drink the autumn rain.

I really dislike you right now for two reasons.

1) You are stunningly good at poetry.

2) You introduce me to new poetry forms I have to torture myself with try.

This is great.
