Dirt Brown #5
Name: Greenling
Story: Asking for Roses
Colors: Dirt Brown #5 (Fertile)
Supplies and Styles: Paint by Numbers (so you will blame me/blame me for the rocks and baby bones and broken lock/on the garden), Miniature
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: A little snippet of Wendy's mother, who has quite a different memory of things than Jaymie does. This was going to be much longer but I still feel like I've been hit by a truck so I went with deliberately-constraining small instead.
Comments, criticism, and questions are all appreciated.
The first days were the hardest. She was worried at first, before they found out about the cash he'd withdrawn in pieces, before his car turned up at a shady lot in Utah with the plates changed but the VIN still on.
What did she think, that he was going to stick around forever? He didn't love her- they'd never tried. She felt stupid, then she just got angry. Why'd he have to wait until the kid was five, and remembered him?
She told Wendy the truth: he left. We don't know where he went. He might not come back.
