Summary: Yet more Jaymie backstory and some general minor setting stuff.

She glowed with a soft light that was barely visible under the flourescents in the doctor's office. She shut the door behind her and sat in a chair across from him, folding one leg over the other and giving him a businesslike smile, prim and on the edge of soft.
"Good morning," she'd said. "I hear you've had some interesting things happen to you. We need to talk."
She asked him questions for an hour, maybe because she realized he wanted to talk. She told him that feeling strange was normal, that it might pass and it might not; that this happened to other people. There were things outside of the world, and once you had been there, there were ways to keep it from coming back; they weren't perfect, but they helped. He joked awkwardly that it felt a lot like what he'd expected from a doctor's appointment, and she gave him another thin-lipped smile. He thought she might have wanted to be someplace else.

The sky was full of stars, and the air smelled of hay and smoke. Sweat rolled down his back and went cold in the chill wind. Masked dancers chased each other around the bonfires to the cacophonous tune of pipes, drums, and what might have been a synthesizer. The world was electric.
He sat on a throne of bound wood, a crown of leaves and vines on his head, and grinned a jack-o-lantern grin.

"We're pretty casual here- we have to be- but there are still... occasions that we observe. Little rituals. Right now, you're still new, you're going to be shaken up. Relax, spend time with your family. If you need to talk, I'll give you my number, and in a couple of weeks... How do you feel about parties?"
