Kesshare decided she would be Queen when she was eight years old.
From there, she needed only decide how she would achieve it. She could marry one of her cousins—first-cousin marriages were discouraged but not forbidden—but then she would only be his consort. That would not be enough.
Which meant that her unfortunate cousins would have to die. But not yet—she was, after all, only eight. It would be years before she was ready to rule. She would make her plans perfect before she acted. Someday, she would be Queen.
It was only a matter of time.
