Dirt Brown 18, Cerise 15, Stars and Stripes 2: Gratitude
Author: Kat
Title: Gratitude
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Dirt brown 18 (Plough), cerise 15 (Thanks for what you do anyway), stars and stripes 2 (“If I had a dime for everytime that I was wrong, I'd be broke.”)
Supplies and Materials: Bichromatic (dirt brown and cerise), canvas (Gina is about seven), glue (Speaking from your heart can be a tricky maneuver, but you are better off acknowledging your emotions), novelty beads (considering the universe).
Word Count: 150
Rating: G
Summary: Robert and his family.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Memefill for justice_turtle.
It was a perfectly normal evening, when Robert thought about it. Susanna, humming to herself as she vaccuumed the living room, Gina doing her homework across the table from him, swinging her legs because her feet didn't touch the floor, and he in his chair, doing the bills.
And yet.
All at once he was overwhelmed with gratitude, for this house, this life, this family. Doing the bills was annoying but easy; they lived well within their means, comfortably, happily. His life was uncomplicated, his daughter brilliant and beautiful, and Susanna—
He got up, went to her, and kissed her temple. "Thank you," he murmured, and she looked up at him, pleased and astonished.
"You're welcome," she said, turning off the vaccuum, "but for what?"
He didn't answer. He didn't feel that he could. So he kissed her again, soft, and curled his fingers against the small of her back.
