Scarlet #2, Skylight #8

Name: [personal profile] jkatkina
Story: Fensirt
Colors: Scarlet #2 (Vanity was stronger than love at sixteen and there was no room in her hot heart now for anything but hate.), Skylight #8 (Surrounded by strangers)
Supplies and Styles: Illustration
Word Count: 0
Rating: G
Warnings: Surly teenager.
Summary: Meet Kaitan.
Notes: I'm going to try and do one of these for every couple pieces of writing I do; this one relates directly to the writing piece I'm going to post next.
I also made an effort to use the actual colors in the image, hah!

I left polish off of the guys in the foreground pretty intentionally, but I'd love it if you guys would let me know if that's working for you or not. Is it too jarring to have Kaitan painted more than the blue guys and the riders?

Mods, a couple of quick questions: Is titling the entry with the color names and numbers a custom or a rule? And is it acceptable to post a 'teaser' crop of the illustration outside the cut -- like, a strip about 50px tall?

I guess I also need tags added for author: jkatkina, story:fensirt, and color: skylight. Whew! Finally!

I really love the colors in this. I think the staging works: the main focus is Kaitan, so it makes sense that he stands out from the rest of the painting. At least to me, anyway. :)

I'm not a mod, but I think the title can be whatever you want. I just use the color/number because it's easiest. I assume that's why most other people do it, too.

Oh, wow, what beautiful art! I like the staging, and the way he seems sort of in the background.

Anyway, as a mod: there is no set rule for titling the entries. Most of us just do the color names and numbers as a habit, but you can absolutely do whatever you want. However, we do ask that you not post teasers outside the cut, in order to minimize scrolling. Besides, your art is so lovely it should be seen all at once, IMO. :)

Your tags have been added!

Your story needs a picture not at all, but that doesn't mean said picture isn't awesome, because it totally is. Those EYES and the jangling motion of the riders passing by? Very cool stuff!

OH BOY SEGUE.

Do you take commissions? *bats lashes*

No is a fine answers. I just had to ask.

I wouldn't ask if I wasn't serious *nodsnods*.

SO. Are there one or two members of my cast you would enjoy drawing? Since art is your livelihood, I'd want you to be having fun with something after hours.

(As a note: Zephyr and Roa both have tattoos which may be visible in everyday clothing; Siebenkas is the only one with a potentially visible scar besides those already shown.)

>>Is it too jarring to have Kaitan painted more than the blue guys and the riders?<<

Works for me. Differing levels of detail comprise a traditional method of emphasis in artwork.
