She stares at the picture against the wall. A photo, taken of the two of them, just four months ago. It was during a concert. Lots of pictures were taken of the bands on stage. But there were only five shots of the crowd. What a coincidence that one of the photo's was of them. Just the two of them. Nick standing behind her, her back against his chest, his arms around her and her arms over his. Fingers entwined. Her head resting on his shoulder.
Grinning she lets her fingers move over the guitar strings. It has been ages ago since she last held her guitar. At least now she feels strong enough to hold it and to play it again.
Closing her eyes she lets her fingers move. Just playing. A children song. One she still knows by heart, one she doesn't have to think about. At least now she can let her mind wander off, knowing she'll get the notes right.
It's strangely relaxing, playing the same tune again and again and again. It eases her mind and her nerves.
"Love, look who I picked up on the way home."
He falls silent when he sees her sitting on the couch. Legs pulled up underneath her, leaning against the side rug, playing the guitar with her eyes closed and smiling. It's a sight he has never seen before. He has never before heard her play the guitar.
"Oh, that has been ages ago. Freya playing the guitar."
Looking aside, Nick sees Susan smile brightly, humming along the children's song.
It's only a couple of minutes later that Freya opens her eyes again. Her fingers stop stirring the strings when she sees Nick and Susan standing there. Watching her. She has never been one for an audience.
"Susan! That has been a while."
Carefully she sets her guitar on the ground next to the couch. Before standing up and walking over to them. Gently she kisses Nick before walking over to Susan, hugging her best friend.
