Byzantium #1, Bittersweet #5, Summertime Blues #12
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Refusing the Call
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Byzantium #1. Men often applaud an imitation and hiss the real thing., Bittersweet #5. the road not taken, Summertime Blues #12. The last one was better.
Supplies and Materials: bichromatic, miniature, brush (duress), watercolors, stain, feathers, pastels (my current gen + romance card I2 "change of pace"), chalk, seed beads, yarn, beading wire, glitter (What’s holding you back?),
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Deva
Warnings: References to parental death and potential assassination
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. From the lint roller, Kat's question: Deva-- why didn't you take the throne when you were offered it? Mera is Deva's daughter.
Andrell has always been like my son. Mera is older--indeed, I am twenty-two years his elder, and only eighteen our parents' junior. And after Mother died, I cared for him.
I considered it. But I've played politics long enough to understand--he is Kellom's legal heir. I am not. That might make drastic change palatable. Besides, I do better following orders than giving them. And I know Andrell. If he survives, he will be great.
He is like my son. It breaks me, knowing his danger. But I believe in him, in our future.
We need him as our head.
