'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Summertime Blues #19. And came there never again as a living person.
Supplies and Materials: graffiti (Midsummer Night's Dream; lint roller: auguris' question: Lonura, what's your worst memory?), photography, pointillism, miniature collection, canvas (980 FY), brush (utmost), feathers, fabric, modeling clay, chalk, novelty beads (once is all it takes), glitter
Word Count: 122
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Lonura
Warnings: Parental death
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
She perches on the window’s edge, idly playing half-invented snatches of song on her tanbur.
She daydreams—or dreads—the upcoming change of her presentation at court.
She wonders when Mamma and Papa will come home—they went riding in the mountains.
She knows something is wrong when a member of the household staff approaches hastily, scuffing the floor with his feet, throwing off her rhythm.
It was a rockslide.
There was no warning.
They likely didn’t suffer.
She drops her tanbur—the pretty thing Papa had bought her when she was a child of six—and it falls in slow motion.
It cracks, and it’s deafening.
It was a rockslide.
And now she is alone in the world.
