Earth chokes her. Its dust and its crowds and its know-it-all stodgy certainty that the universe revolves around its backwater birthplace of humanity bullshit—god, she hates it. Sure, it's her birthplace too, but that doesn't mean Danny has to like it.

It's not like humanity's all that great.

Earth falls away below her, spinning on into the darkness, blurring beyond the window. She watches it go until her eyes sting, until it's nothing more than a blue smear in the great, star-spotted emptiness of space.

When it's gone—really gone—she turns away from the view, and breathes in.

I like that complete lack of regret at the end, where the reader realizes that yes, yes, Danny does not miss Earth at all, and does not feel bad about it whatsoever. It's refreshing.

I can't say I blame her. You pack a very strong picture of Earth into those hundred words, somewhere no longer important that nevertheless keeps puffing itself up and acting like it's all that. I'd run too.
