Stars and Stripes 10, Quill Grey 20: Leaving Earth
Author: Kat
Title: Leaving Earth
Story: In the Heart - IN SPAAAACE AU
Colors: Stars and stripes 10 (“Twenty-two astronauts were born in Ohio. What is it about your state that makes people want to flee the Earth?"), quill grey 20 (Writing is a struggle against silence. - Carlos Fuentes) with Kana's paint-by-numbers (Le ciel n’a pas de limites. J’aime cette sensation. C’est rassurant. – The sky has no limits. I like that feeling. It’s reassuring.)
Supplies and Materials: Eraser (IN SPAAAACE), miniature, yarn (leaving Earth), novelty beads (hot air balloons flying away), chalk (hot air balloons flying away).
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG for one cussword.
Summary: Danny leaves Earth.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Things that happen while I am trying to sleep: this.
Earth chokes her. Its dust and its crowds and its know-it-all stodgy certainty that the universe revolves around its backwater birthplace of humanity bullshit—god, she hates it. Sure, it's her birthplace too, but that doesn't mean Danny has to like it.
It's not like humanity's all that great.
Earth falls away below her, spinning on into the darkness, blurring beyond the window. She watches it go until her eyes sting, until it's nothing more than a blue smear in the great, star-spotted emptiness of space.
When it's gone—really gone—she turns away from the view, and breathes in.
