Justine walked inside her room as she read the memo about two people requesting her reaping, the higher ups wanted her to call it guiding, services. She folded up the paper and placed it in her pocket as she passed by skeletons and skulls on the way. She knew that her room made people uncomfortable, but she didn’t feel the need to change it. It wasn’t going to be a happy room because the Second Great Plane wasn’t too much of a happy place. Well, it wasn’t to her.

Justine didn’t dwell on those thoughts for long as she approached her table. Her lips curled up in a smile at the two people on the other end. Hmm, a Winchester and a Baudin, this will be interesting. She sat down and greeted them with a smile.

“Hello, how can I help you?”

“Hello, I’m Bernard from the Thief clan Winchester.”

“Good afternoon, I’m Albert from the Thief clan Baudin.”

“We come with a favor. Something happened and, um, we need help with a body.” Bernard said.

Justine crossed her arms over her chest. “What happened?”

Bernard shifted in his seat. “We were on the run from the police and, um, we had to defend ourselves, but I didn’t mean for things to end like this.”

“Sounds like you took a life and is looking for a deal. Is that what you want?” Justine asked.

“Yes, can you help us?” Albert asked as Bernard nodded.

Justine stood up and walked over to the golden vase in the room. An item she felt bought the room together, the skulls around it and the trees behind her was an added touch. She hummed as she tapped her finger against her cheek. “Now tell me why would I do that? What could I get from it? I’m not a Necromancer, so I can’t call the body up as I wish. Do you want me to stop the transaction or find a way for the person to have a second chance?”

She enjoyed the way the Winchester shifted in his seat as if he wanted to leave. She would be lying if she denied the thrill she got whenever someone entered her room to make a deal or to arrange a visit to see someone.

“We want you to place the body in an area where no Necromancer can get to it. If that’s not a problem.” Albert quickly added.

“For me to do that, I’ll need something for the deal. It’s formalities after all.”

Bernard reached in his pocket and pulled out an envelope. He placed it on the table and slid it over to her. “Inside are pieces of jewelry from our families’ vaults. Significant pieces that can’t be duplicated and our most prized possessions. Is this enough?”

Justine walked over and took the envelope off the table. She looked through the contents and placed it back on the table. “Everything is in order, but you do know that you’ll be on the list to be the next guides once you pass over. That is non-negotiable.”

“We know.” Albert said as Bernard nodded.

“Alright, as long as you do, I’ll pick up the body after my rounds today. Is that all?”

“Yes, that’s it.” Bernard said.

Justine nodded. “Thank you for your cooperation gentlemen. Have a nice day.” She stifled a laugh at the way Bernard and Albert disappeared out of her room. Justine settled down and looked through the envelope again.

Hmm, maybe today won’t be too bad.

Justine seems... mildly sociopathic. Did the afterlife do that to her?
