Cotton Candy 15: Political Discourse
Author: Kat
Title: Political Discourse
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Cotton candy 15 (tea party) with blossom's paint-by-numbers (Ivy deals with people from the tea party)
Supplies and Materials: Fingerpainting, novelty beads (this gif).
Word Count: 215
Rating: G
Summary: Ivy encounters her uncle.
Warnings: Tea Party politics, may be triggering to some people. Also casual homophobia and "welfare queen" mythology.
Notes: Technically this is before the Tea Party movement, but eh.
Uncle Chris started it.
He was wrong!
Ugh, okay. So I was just sitting there eating leftover turkey and hanging out with Tyler and Summer, and Uncle Chris comes up and makes some comment about gay marriage and how it’s really not important. Right in front of me!
Ask Summer if you don't believe me.
Right, anyway, so I told him it was really important to me, and he said I was biased and civil partnerships were basically the same thing, and then he said that we shouldn't even be worrying about it on the federal level because it was a state by state issue, and then we got into it on taxes.
I don't know how we made that transition.
No, really, I don't, that's not the point anyway, the point is he told me he was being taxed without representation! He lives in Orange County! He not only has representation, he has Republican representation, but his representation doesn't agree with him 100% on everything so he doesn't have representation. Just... what?
Then he told me he didn't want to be taxed to pay for people too lazy to get a job and that was about when I threw my sandwich at him.
Yeah.
Aunt Cecily wasn't mad at me, anyway. So I win.
