Dove Grey 17: Teardrop
Name: Destiny
Story: The Mondian Chronicles (Archive/Index/Timelines)
Title: Teardrop
Timeline: 1116 AW
Colors: Dove Grey 17: It was a fine cry - loud and long - but it had no bottom and it had no top, just circles and circles of sorrow.
Supplies and Styles: None
Word Count: 157
Summary: His father had told him that men didn't cry. He broke that rule.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Death is mentioned.
Notes: Angelique is Henri's sister through Amorette Durand. One of her full brothers is Bertrand, who later marries Marie Everart.
He had cried when she died.
Although he knew it was normal to cry at times like those, Claude couldn’t help feeling weak. His father had instilled many things to him and one of those was that men didn’t cry. No exceptions.
As Angelique had taken her last breath, his eyes had felt wet. He had turned his face away from hers. He couldn’t let her see him like that. He hurriedly wiped away the tear, but by the time he turned back around, her chest had stilled. She was gone.
He recalled walking numbly to his study. He’d stumbled into his chair and before he knew it, sobs had overcome him.
He cried. He cried for the wife he had lost. He cried for everything. He cried.
After he felt calmer, but he couldn’t get his father’s voice out of his head. He’d broken the rule.
Claude made a promise to never let it happen again.
