Xanadu 3: want
Author: Kat
Title: want
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Xanadu 3 (Atlantis)
Supplies and Materials: Canvas (Gina is thirteen), fabric (this picture), chalk (two women kissing), brush (harangue), glitter (Topic to discuss : Lust), pastels (forbidden), novelty beads (Crash), photography.
Word Count: 200
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Gina's body tries to tell her something that her mind will not hear.
Warnings: internalized and religious homophobia, underaged character with explicit sexual desires.
Notes: I can explain the prompt if you wish.
Gina's thirteen and dreaming on a pier, dangling her feet in the water, when the woman comes walking, bare feet shifting in the sand. She's all in white, loose panels swirling around her body, and she pauses for a moment, looks at Gina over her shoulder with a little half-smile.
And just like that Gina wants, a punch of desire hot and low in her belly. To kiss that woman's dreaming half-smile, touch her smooth brown skin, feel the tips of her fingers, then strip the loose white cloth from her, see her bare and dripping with seawater and taste the salt on her skin—
And just like that Gina shies away, desire souring to nausea and guilt. She isn't a woman yet, but she will be, and women do not, cannot want other women like that. It's wrong, it's evil, it's unholy, against everything she's ever been taught, and she turns sharply away, looks down the beach to the group of burly surfers running in and out of the water, tries to imagine their bodies heavy on her, in her.
By the time she dares look back, the woman is gone. Good, she thinks, and refuses to feel sorry.
