Dove Grey 11 + Glitter: Anyday Now
Name: Destiny
Story: The Mondian Chronicles
Title: Anyday Now
Timeline: 1136 AW
Colors: Dove Grey 11: You do not see the river of mourning because it lacks one tear of your own.
Supplies and Styles: Glitter (Lust)
Word Count: 232
Summary: The extended royal family is rocked by scandal as the King's natural brother cuts down another brother in a fit of rage.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Hints at adultery
Notes: Okay a little background for this piece. Jacques and Alain are Henri's natural brothers through their father. Their mother is Amorette Durand, Queen Dowager Elisabeth's once hated rival. Analise by this time in the story is married to Frederic, elder to Jacques and Alain. Hannanore is Analise's younger sister. Hannanore convinced her father to accept the lower status marriage of Jacques so she could be closer to her sister. Got all that? XD
“You have blood on your hands,” Analise said tightly.
Hannanore continued to brush her long blonde hair. She paused in front of her vanity, but otherwise gave no indication that she had heard her elder sister.
“Say something, damn you!”
Hannanore turned suddenly.
“What would you have me say?”
“Why did you do it? Him of all people, Hannanore!”
Hannanore shrugged.
“When did you become so callous?” Analise said. “What happened to the girl I knew?”
“She grew up Lise,” Hannanore said to her reflection more than her sister. “Life is short. You have to take what you want and get as much of it as you can.”
“I know Alain wasn’t your only lover. You know how Jacques feels about his brother, but you lay down with him anyway.”
“I don’t refute that,” Hannanore said.
Analise stepped back. “You don’t feel sorry at all, do you?”
Hannanore didn’t answer.
“You’ve embarrassed our family. You’ve embarrassed me! What about your children?”
“Jacques won’t try to annul the marriage,” Hannanore said.
“How do you know?” Analise insisted.
“So many reasons, because he’s religious, because he loves me still, because of the children, and everything else he tries to convince himself of.”
Analise turned away from her sister. She couldn’t stand to look at her anymore.
“One day you’ll regret this, Hannanore. One day I know you will.”
“It won’t be any day soon.”
