Dove Grey 21 + Miniature Collection: Gone
Name: Destiny
Story: The Mondian Chronicles (Archive/Index/Timelines)
Title: Gone
Timeline: 1134 AW
Colors: Dove Grey #21: Here is one of the worst things about having someone you love die: It happens again every single morning.
Supplies and Styles: Miniature Collection
Word Count: 300
Summary: The extended Puchot family ruminates on the death of the Marquis.
Rating: G
Warnings: Death is mentioned.
Notes: Cosette as the eldest child of her father and without male heirs is now the Marchioness of Estogne in her own right. Her children are by Alexandre Sohmes, who died before her youngest was born in 1131.
Cosette ran her hands over the desk. Her father’s desk.
She couldn’t believe he was gone. Claude Puchot had seemed larger than life. No one was better or greater than her Papa.
She could tell that he hadn’t been in his study in sometime. Dust covered his account books. Papa hated dirt and he made the staff clean obsessively.
Cosette sighed. She had a funeral to plan now. She was the eldest; she was her father’s heir.
She didn’t want to do it. She wasn’t ready to say goodbye. But she had to. It was her duty as a Puchot.

“I wonder if they’re together now,” Claudine said sorting through the many tomes of her father’s library.
“Who?” Corrine asked.
“Mama and Papa,” Cosette said softly.
Corrine scoffed. “I suppose you could say they are as they’ll be in the crypt together.”
“You know that’s not what she meant,” Cosette said.
Corrine shrugged.
“The good book says that if you lived a good life and served the God Above faithfully, then you’ll be rewarded. Perhaps Papa will be-,”
“Fairy tales, all of that nonsense,” Corrine interrupted.
“Everyone needs to believe in something,” Cosette said sensibly.
“Believe indeed,” said Corrine.

“Why are all of these people here?” Rene asked his elder sister.
“Grandpere died,” Maud said turning a page in her book.
Rene bit his lip. He looked around the crowded room. No one was paying attention to them. They never did.
“Is that why Maman is crying?” Rene asked tugging at her gown.
“Yes,” Maud said without looking up.
Rene stopped and looked around for his mother. He could spot red hair, but the person was obscured by bodies.
“Is he ever going to come back?”
“No,” Maud said. “He’s gone. He’s never coming back. Just like Papa.”
