Summary: The Queen invites the Everarts to court, but Pierre is drunk as usual. His wife calls him on it.

Notes: Alienor and Pierre have been married for about eight years when this takes place.
“What are you so angry about?” Pierre asked.
Alienor sucked in her lips. He was sober now, but he hadn’t been the day before. He’d embarrassed their entire family at court after the Queen had invited them.
“Why couldn’t you be sober for once, Pierre?” Alienor asked tightly.
Pierre sighed and ran his hands through his brown hair. It was streaked liberally with grey. Though he was only aged 52, he looked much older.
“I’m waiting for an answer,” she persisted.
“Alienor, don’t drag this out.”
“Why not?” Alienor said throwing up her hands in exasperation. “I’m tired of sitting idly by and allowing you to sink deeper into despair.”
He turned away.
Alienor bit her lip.
“Anna would be happy you know,” she started.
“Stop…”
“Her daughter is the queen, Pierre! They tainted her legacy, but now her line prevails. Your niece has a strong healthy son. He’ll reign after his mother,” Alienor said tiredly. “Through them Anna lives.”
Pierre turned on her.
“You don’t know anything,” he said pointing his finger at her. “You don’t know a damn thing!”
He turned on his heel and stormed out of their bedroom. She wouldn’t go after him this time. She’d followed after him for years now. She couldn’t do it anymore. He would have to come to her and she would be there when he did.
