"Susan."
Susan hums as a sign that she is paying attention while she continues preparing dinner for herself and Liam. Knows Freya doesn't mind she's busy while talking on the phone.
"Can we meet up one of these days? I... Kinda need to talk to you."
For a second Susan stops stirring. Worried.
"Freya?"
She relaxes when she hears the soft laughter at the other end of the line.
"Don't worry. It's nothing bad. Quite the contrary in fact. And... OH! Can we just meet up this evening? After dinner? I really want to tell you..."
There are a couple of possibilities in Susan's head when she hears that reaction. And she must admit, she's curious. She doesn't need to look aside and ask Liam if it's ok. After all, he has basket practise after dinner.
"Sure. Say, 8pm in our usual cafe?"
"Perfect. Thanks Susan! See you then."

Looking around, it doesn't take her long to spot her best friend.
"Do I want to know?"
Freya looks up to her in surprise. Questioning.
"Do I want to know how long you're here already?"
Smiling Freya shakes her head. "Probably not."
It makes Susan roll her eyes while she sets herself down as well. Ordering a coke and another ice tea for Freya.
"So, what is it? What has happened? What..."
She falters when she sees the grin on Freya's face and the twinkling in her eyes.
"Do you dare to guess?"
And it is only because of the happiness in her voice and the carefree look in her eyes, that Susan dares.
"You. And Nick. You're together?"
Despite knowing Freya would never have said it the way she did, Susan still fears she's got it wrong. She didn't have to be scared though.
"Yeah... He kissed me a couple of days ago. And. Well..."
Another grin.
"You can't believe how happy I am Susan..."
She reaches over the table, hugging her best friend.
"I'm so glad for you. The both of you. You're just... Oh, I'm so happy."
Freya laughs. Loud and clear and happy. It's been awhile since she was as carefree as she is now. Susan decides she likes her friend best like this.
The coke and the ice tea arrive a couple of minutes later. Together with two moelleux au chocolate.
"I took the liberty of ordering one for you as well..."
Susan smiles and winks at her. "Oh, I don't mind at all. Gosh, this is delicious!"
Freya chuckles and silently eat her own dessert.
"So..."
They just smile at each other. There isn't much to be said. Susan knows - has known for a very long time - just how much Freya feels for Nick.
"Tell me. How did it happen? When and where and..."
Freya laughs again, and Susan can't keep the smile from her face. Happiness works addicting...
