His hand on her shoulder finally makes her look up. The blank look still in her eyes though.
“Yeah, sure.”
There are no tears. Not anymore. But the pain is still there. She tries to hide it. Even from him. But Nick knows it is still there.
“I’m here, you know…”
It’s a fake smile that graces her lips. And they both know it. He won’t say anything about it though. Not now. Not when she’s having such a hard time. He knows she’s only pretending to be strong. She’ll hide in his embrace at night.
