“Sad day,” Theodore Bauldry commented to his former brother in law, Jean Michele Everart.
Jean Michele sighed deeply. Indeed it was a sad day. But by now he was used to it. The Everarts had had many sad days over the past year.
“How’s Elisabetta?” Theodore asked sipping his wine daintily.
Jean Michele didn’t answer at first.
“She’s…she’s not doing well. I wouldn’t expect her to since she just lost one of our children,” Jean Michele said.
Theodore nodded. “Giselle mourned deeply when we lost our first.”
Jean Michele shifted away at the mention of his deceased sister.
“How is Brigitte?” Jean Michele said, trying to change the subject.
Theodore allowed a small smile to grace his face. “She’s growing bigger by the day. She’s positive we’re having a boy.”
Jean Michele chuckled.
Theodore sighed and stood. He turned to look at Jean Michele.
“If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask. We were brothers once,” Theodore said.
Jean Michele nodded. Theodore smiled before leaving Jean Michele alone. He needed time to grieve.
