Summary: Kseniya tells her parents that she is in love with another woman. It goes well.
Notes: I wanted to write happy lesbians and so I did. Takes place in the country to the north and the west of Vaelan. The Prince Konstantin mentioned in this story is Kostya. Marya is his sister.
That day, Kseniya was determined to bring up something very important with her parents, the Tsar and Tsarina of (country). It had been a month since she had returned from saving her brother Ivan and she was tired of keeping what else had happened from her parents. Namely the fact that she had fallen in love.
She was having lunch with her parents while her brothers were busy elsewhere when she brought the topic up.
"So, mom and dad, didn't you tell me that if I found someone that I loved who was of proper upbringing, I could marry them right?" asked Kseniya half-way through the meal.
Dimitri, her father, blinked and said, "Yes. Have you found a man suitable for your tastes?"
First taking in a steady breath, Kseniya calmed herself down before answering, "Well, it's not a man exactly..." It took almost all of her courage to say that. She may have defeated a dark lord and made friends with witches, but telling her father that she was not interested in men was perhaps far more frightening than any of those combined.
"You mean that he is enchanted?"
"No, I mean I have fallen in love with a woman, father," said Kseniya.
He went quiet and looked at her carefully before continuing, "What do you mean, you've fallen in love with a woman?"
As soon as he said that, Kseniya worried that she had went about this in entirely the wrong way. That maybe she should've just continued to see Marya in private. After all, she was still a guest in their household and it wasn't like they couldn't see each other now, but if her father told Marya to leave...
Her mother, Anastasia, then spoke up and asked, ""Who is this woman you love then?"
"Marya Starikov." Kseniya fiddled with the napkin that she had on her lap, hoping that they would not send the woman that she loved away.
As her father frowned, the young woman watched as her mother spoke under her breath to her husband. Kseniya strained to hear what her mother said, but only could catch a few words like "men" and "refused". The tsar sighed after listening to Anastasia and when he spoke again, his face had relaxed.
"I suppose it is not too much of a surprise considering how you've...reacted to the princes we have introduced you to in the past," said Dimitri carefully, "But falling in love with the Ice Prince's sister?"
Kseniya looked up and prayed for patience as she took a deep breath and then laid out her argument. "Did you not allow her to stay in our country? If she is trusted enough to live in our palace as an honored guest, then would you not trust her to be with me, considering that we both love each other? After all, she is not her brother and honestly, would you rather make a friend of Prince Konstantin rather than be his enemy?"
Anastasia turned to her husband and said, "Dear, were you not wanting Kseniya to marry others for the sake of making alliances before? This is what you did want after all."
"Well, I suppose an alliance with Vaelan would not be a bad idea...though what would other countries think of us allying with a sorcerer?" mused Dimitri.
"Then they will think that you have tamed him and made him into a friend rather than a fearsome enemy. After all, there are many people who are afraid of what he can do."
"He kidnapped our son, Nastya."
"Yes, he did keep our son captive, but as you remember, Ivan went there on his own without telling us. Prince Konstantin had every right to do what he did. After all, he did not actually harm our son."
Dimitri turned to Kseniya and said, "Well, I suppose if her brother agrees to it, we could...find a way to acknowledge your relationship with Marya Starikov."
"So, I can marry her?"
"We'll talk about it, but yes, that is a possibility." At that Kseniya grinned and got up to hug both of her parents, thanking them profusely. She ran off from the table, excited to tell Marya about the outcome of her conversation, leaving her forgotten lunch behind.

The end with the lunch just staring at the ceiling makes it.
Thank you for posting.

the Tsar and Tsarina of (country).
I think you forgot a bit there...

To be honest, I got inspired to write this because of looking at one of your recent entries. XD I had been wondering if they would get married or not anyways.
Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't come up with a country name yet, so that's just a placeholder until I figure it out. This is my first piece dealing with these characters.
