Transparent 2, Bittersweet 6: Breath
Author: Kat
Title: Breath
Story: In the Heart -- Fairy Tale A
Colors: Transparent 2 (Breath), bittersweet 6 (old photographs).
Supplies and Materials: Miniature, eraser (Fairy Tale AU), novelty beads (this picture), chalk (this picture), oils (tower), glitter ("You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough." – Frank Crane).
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: It takes a breath to shift his skin.
Warnings: none.
Notes: Last bittersweet!
It takes no more than a breath to shift skins, from bear to man and back again. It takes no more than a breath to break his world apart.
("Am I," he'd cried, "am I your son, tell me the truth," and she had looked away, and he'd known.)
He takes a breath now and dives, a great snow bear cutting through the water. It's cold, so cold; it would be colder as a man.
(He could see them still in his mind's eye, his family: brothers and sisters, mother and father—and two snow bears towering above them all.)
