Transparent 19, Bittersweet 10, Electric Purple 15: Horizon
Author: Kat
Title: Horizon
Story: Shine Like It Does
Colors: Transparent 19 (East), bittersweet 10 (endings and beginnings), electric purple 15 (Too many shadows, whispering voices/Faces on posters, too many choices/If, when, why, what?/How much have you got? (The Petshop Boys- West End Girls)) with SWL's paint-by-numbers (Charlotte's first night out as an ordinary person and all she feels is ________.)
Supplies and Materials: Miniature, chalk (this picture), oils (the alley between two worlds), yarn (this picture), novelty beads (this picture!).
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: Charlotte, on her own.
Warnings: none.
Notes: It's been a while since I wrote Shine Like It Does!
The change in Charlotte is so monumental, she thinks that the world must have changed too. There must have been a sudden jolt, a whip of light from the sun whirling out to lash across the landscape as she steps out of the bus station.
But it's the same world, the same dark and confusing and overwhelming world. She has fewer choices now but they are still endless, gold veils ribboning around her and floating out into the dark. How can she choose?
She catches at one, feels it slip through her fingers and float away towards the dawning east.

I love the imagery in this, so evocative and saying so much in so few words. I also love Charlotte's optimism. I think she's prepared to face whatever challenges are coming her way.

I think she's prepared too; I think she doesn't quite know how prepared she is.

It's Charlotte. So, it's totally grounded in its own way.
And I love every word.
