Crimson #5: Emergency Meeting

Name: Blossom
Story: Pleasant Surprise
Colors: Crimson 5. (You have to set an example even in the face of stupidity.)
Supplies and Styles: Canvas
Title: Emergency Meeting
Word Count: 1,354
Rating: PG-13
Summary: After the discovery of Antonio and Femi, a missing Water demon queen, the council of leaders have called a emergency meeting. Michel has to attend this meeting.
Warnings: mentions of past kidnappings and intent to fight
Notes: I decided to show the beginning of a meeting between various Demon leaders. However, putting that many demons in one room can be very interesting. Well enjoy!

Michel picked at the collar of the long sweeping formal robe. It wasn’t his favorite outfit, but it was necessary for the emergency meeting happening in a few hours. He received the message after his children Bernard and Sofie discovered Antonio, the missing Sky king, and Femi, the missing water queen. Michel stopped peace treaty negotiations in a nearby Water Demon town and prepared for the meeting.

Michel sighed as he adjusted the collar. A soft giggle from the doorway took Michel away from his thoughts.

“Are you ready?”

“I think so Bella, I just can’t believe this. Two leaders found in less than a month. It sickens me to know what happened to them.” Michel grumbled.

Bella nodded and placed her hands on his shoulders. “I know, it makes me angry every time I think about it. Their positions have been replaced. Do you want to know who’s there?”

“Something tells me that I won’t like it, but I need to know. Who is it?”

“Arturo is representing Arrownite. Amara is representing the Water kingdom Baswell.”

Michel gripped the corner of the dresser and took a breath to calm down the flash of anger that passed through him. “Arturo and Amara? Aren’t they the reason why Antonio and Femi are in the hospital?”

Bella nodded. “They are, but they’re the leaders now. When Antonio and Femi “mysteriously” disappeared both kingdoms held an election. Arturo convinced people to go on his side with promises of turning Arrownite back to the way it used to be with before other demons entered. Amara had a similar campaign and promised to kick out all the demons who aren’t water or ice. Because of those promises, they won. You know how demons are still easily influenced by power.”

“I thought we were over that.” Michel said. He growled softly and tugged at the collar again. Bella smiled as she gently took his hands away and fixed it for him.

“I thought so too, but many demons have become very jaded after the war. The old standard of the strongest one survives is coming back now more than ever. Demon citizens don’t want to hear anything about peace or trying to join communities together anymore. The one who mentions power the most is the leader everyone is looking for.” Bella smoothed the velvet material down as she pressed her lips together a frown on her face.

“It’s why I’m worried about you. Your platform has changed since you became leader and I don’t want you hurt because someone wants to be a hero.” She whispered and rested her head on Michel’s shoulder.

Michel pressed a kiss in her hair. “I’m different now. I know that what we need is peace and we can’t fight forever. If one of the head priestesses from Arcadia can come together with the leader over the Shadow Demons then I know we have a chance. I want my grandkids to grow up in peace like my children. I won’t stop until that happens.” He pressed a soft kiss against her lips as Bella returned it.

Michel pulled away before they could deepened it and have an effective way to lose their worries for awhile. “Don’t worry my Bella, I’ll be alright.”

“Okay, I’ll keep watch over the hotel while you’re away.” Bella said.

“Where are our grandchildren?” Michel asked.

“They’re all in the hotel safe and sound.” Bella said.

Michel nodded. “Good what about our children?”

“They already checked in with me and I know it was them, not imposters. An imposter wouldn’t be able to duplicate their mind waves.” Bella said.

Michel let out a relieved breath. “Good now I can go to the meeting.” He turned back to the mirror and tugged at the sleeves.

Bella laughed softly. “You look fine. Don’t forget to attach the pendant to your choker.”

Michel sighed, picking the black choker off the dresser. “This thing makes me feel like I’m choking.” He placed it around his neck and attached the pendant. He checked his reflection in the mirror, making sure he looked everything like a Fire Demon leader, before he turned to Bella.

“How do I look?”

Bella kissed his cheek. “Wonderful and very hot.”

Michel smiled. “Thanks. Well, wish me luck.”

“I will. Things will work out, don’t worry.” Bella said.

“I hope so.” Michel said as he pulled Bella close for one more kiss. I really do.

*~*~*

In Alu, the capital city of Coven, many leaders settled in their chairs waiting for the meeting to begin in the political hall. Michel tried his hardest not to glare when his gaze caught Arturo’s or Amara’s. It boiled Michel’s blood to know how they betrayed the people who helped them. He looked away and pushed his temper down again.

“So do you think this meeting will be long?”

Michel shrugged. “I hope not Spade. I was in the middle of signing a treaty with Wahire, the new Water Demon community. How about you?”

Spade, a Shadow Demon, nodded, taking a seat next to Michel. “I was in negotiations with Sophia from Arcadia. We’re in the second round, but I think she’s warming up to me. I’m also talking with Marlene from the Miu.”

“I’m in talks with Cassandra from Amulet and Calista from the Kiu. I’m hoping it will work out soon.” Michel said.

“Me too,” Spade said. He growled softly when he looked over at Arturo and Amara. His shadows danced around him, but he pulled them back before they inflicted any damage.

“I can’t believe they’re here. They have a lot of damn nerve.” Spade snapped.

“I know, but what can we do? Their people elected them so our opinions are invalid. However, no one said anything about causing a few fires.” Michel smirked as fire appeared on his claws.

Spade returned it as his shadows did the same thing. “Oh yes I can’t wait for that.”

Spade and Michel moved to put their plan into action when Alec, the speaker for the meeting, walked in. He greeted everyone in the room, placing his folder down on the podium.

“Now as you know we have many things to talk about.” Alec said.

“You’re right we do! Why the hell are they here!” David, a Light Demon, shouted.

“I agree! They have no right!” Isabella, a Water Demon, shouted.

Alec hit his gavel against the podium. “Order, order! I know we have that to discuss, but before we do there is the matter of the peace treaties going on in the various Water, Fire, and Ice demons communities. Another thing that requires our attention is the contracts between the Ice demon clans Kiu and Miu. Yes, Michel?”

“I say we have an emergency vote.” Michel said.

“On what grounds?” Alec said.

“Amara and Antonio were not here during the beginning negotiations. I believe it’s unfair to us and our people to let two demons in the vote in the middle of contract negotiations.” Michel said.

A loud murmur of agreement sounded around the room as Amara and Arturo glared at Michel while Spade smirked and Alec contemplated Michel’s decision. After a few minutes Alec nodded. “Michel you bring up a good point. I have heard similar disagreements in different demon communities, including a few from Amulet and Arcadia. Before we start this vote, I would like Arturo and Amara to leave the room. We’ll call you back upon the arrival of our decision.”

Arturo and Amara cursed under their breaths, but stood up. They flipped Michel and Spade off on their way out the room. When the door shut behind them, Alec looked around the crowd of assorted leaders.

“We’ll review the information we have on them before making our decision. I know the recent events of Arrownite and Baswell. I want to tell you don’t let that influence your vote, but I know it’s going to happen. Let us review the recent information about Arrownite and Baswell.” Alec said.

Spade turned to Michel with a smile. “Anything else you got up your sleeve?”

Michel nodded with an evil grin. “I’m just getting started.”

Ew. This is... really gross politics. On so many levels. Something's going to explode.
