“That one. She’s the one,” Michael insists, moments after they first lay eyes on the young girl.

“‘S not like gettin’ a dog, Michael,” Johnny chides. “Gotta make sure we click and get ‘long with the kid first.” He peers at the photograph. “This, uh, Emily might not fit with our family.”

Michael shakes his head firmly, prodding at the album. “That’s her, that’s our daughter. I just know it.”

Shrugging, Johnny heads into the kitchen. “All righ’. Set up the meetin’ for this weekend. We’ll find out then.”

“She’s our daughter,” Michael mutters to himself. “She is.”
