Summary: The Everarts must pick up the pieces after losing one of their own.

Warnings: Infidelity is implied.
Notes: So this takes place in the sixth month of 1125 not long after the execution of Anna. The year previously Anna asked Giovanna (her maternal cousin) to accept Henri's suit of her so Anna could keep a closer watch on him. Obviously this does not work.
“He looks just like you,” Marie said holding the newborn's hand in hers.
Giovanna cuddled her baby to her. Little Enrico did indeed look like her with jet black hair, but his eyes were blue.
Marie smiled. “Has he come to see you yet?”
Giovanna shifted in the bed.
“He hasn't come in person, it wouldn't be decent since he's planning a wedding to the Lady Jeanne. But he sent Enrique.”
Marie nodded.
“How is...Aunt Liliana?”
Marie sighed deeply. “She's as you'd expect her to be.”
“Devastated,” Giovanna said understandably.
“Papa says she hasn't emerged from her room since the execution,” Marie said sadly. “Jean Luc seems to be taking things well, he's taken on more of Papa's duties. But Pierre...well.”
“I feel horrible,” Giovanna said.
Marie reached for Giovanna's hand. “You shouldn't.”
“I was supposed to help her,” Giovanna said. “He wouldn't even see me after she was arrested. I haven't seen him since Tieral.”
“You haven't seen him in two months?”
Giovanna nodded. “He's been with either the Lady Barbe or Lady Jeanne.”
Marie shook her head. She knew all too well how the King would be during lie ins. He was not known for his fidelity.
Giovanna sighed. “Perhaps the worst has happened?”
Marie squeezed her hand. Perhaps it had. But she had a feeling things could get much worst.
