Halloween Orange

Name: Charley
Story: None
Colors: Halloween Orange - An island's not a prison -- that's what men make bridges for.
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Notes: So, apparently this is a thing now? I don't know. This isn't tied to anyone in particular but I might see if I can't write more iwth this person.

And yes, I'm on an island of my own making
But here's the thing, if you want me, I'm free for the taking.

My mother, my father, they never knew who I was
So I shut myself away as a good fairytale princess does.

But now I'm alone, all trapped in my tower.
And I forgot long ago, that I was the one with the power.

For freedom, for flight, for finding my feet.
I let myself forget that, in the end, I could have this thing beat.

And then you came along, all dashing and brave.
And said, "Honey, you were never a girl that needed to be saved."

And I laughed and you laughed and we hugged our goodbyes.
And now I see beyond my island, see beyond those frayed old ties.

Because a princess is a princess whether she's in a tower or town.
And I'm done living in walls, I'm tearing them down.

Hurrah! Seriously, this poem makes me want to stand up and cheer. And set it to music. Or at least do it like spoken word, defiant and full of joy.

...actually, can I podfic this?
