Notes: This is the second piece featuring Aishe Moreau. She's an Autari girl from the lower regions. She arrived in the capital to future her aspirations as an artist and soon became an apprentice to Master Augusto d'Cavillo, which is an Canillian artist that is popular at the Mondian court. Giovanna is also Canillian and is the cousin of Anna on her mother's side. She is also a minor mistress to Henri.

Aishe watched her master talk with his lady.

Master d’Cavillo didn’t often talk about his private life. In fact he didn’t really talk much at all. He usually let Aishe experiment with techniques which frustrated her. She wanted to learn more from him, be as great and revered as he.

Aishe sighed and looked back at her canvas. At the moment she was painting the sun rising over Morelessa. It was good, but it could be better.

“Is he treating you well?” Master d’Cavillo asked taking a sip of wine.

Lady Giovanna looked down at her hands. Aishe could see why her master loved her. She was beautiful and gracious. Everything that Aishe was not.

“Of course, he’s treating me well, Augusto.”

“Does he mention…?”

The room was eerily quiet. Aishe dipped her brush into the paint, but she kept her ears alert.
“He doesn’t really mention her,” Giovanna said. “You don’t have anything to be worried about.”

Aishe stopped. What did that mean? She knew that they were referring to the King and she supposed they were talking about the disgraced queen, but what did Master d’Cavillo have to do with anything?

“Aishe,” his voice interrupted her thoughts.

She almost dropped her brush, but she caught it just in time, though the paint dropped on her simple gown.

“Yes Master?”

“Leave us,” he said.

Aishe nodded and stood up. She put her brush on the easel and quickly walked past the two of them. She gently closed the door behind her.

“She’d be alive if it weren’t for me,” Master d’Cavillo’s voice drifted under the door frame.

She heard Lady Giovanna say something, but it was too soft to hear.

Aishe pulled back. She shouldn’t be listening. Daya had told her that goblins caught off the ears of the nosy.

So she walked on wondering what in the world was going on in that glittering world.

It's always interesting to see how things look from the point of view of characters who aren't right in the middle of it.

Aishe might not want to be part of that glittering world...
