"I'd like to meet Lady Tova," Nolani said over her shoulder as she was getting dressed, two days after her return to court.
Andrell paused, nonplussed. "I'm...sorry?"
"She is your favorite, isn't she?" his wife asked, a little muffled by her dress.
He flushed. He and Tova had met shortly after Nolani had gone to her mother's home, about four months before, and it hadn't taken long at all for them to become close. He'd certainly planned to tell Nolani about her--though someone else obviously beat him to it--but an introduction was something he'd never considered. "Yes. I just...didn't expect you to..." Mellir's wife had certainly never wanted anything to do with his mistresses.
"She's an important part of the court," Nolani said, a little confused. "And, more significantly, of your life. If I ever choose another favorite, I'll introduce her to you if she's going to be there for any length of time. Especially if she's at this court, not in Glass."
"All right," Andrell said. "I can arrange that..."
She turned to him. "I mean that," she said, seriously. "She's important to you, and...whatever we aren't, you are my husband, and I do care about your happiness."
He flushed. "Of course." She did, she had proven that time and time again. "I'm sorry, I should have remembered. I'll find out when she can meet you."
"Good," Nolani said, then smirked a little, a spark of humor in her eyes. "Besides. I have to make sure she's good enough for my husband."
Andrell flushed even darker, but he couldn't help laughing along with her.

I don't know if they're quite that close, but they do become friends. ^^
...Lonura and Tova might be, actually. That would be kind of hilarious.

They will, don't worry.
And royal favorites (or at least mistresses) were really not uncommon at all in the period I mostly draw social/cultural norms for Feredar from. Sorell and Kellom were actually very unusual in that neither of them actually ever had a mistress. And even if they weren't, especially since theirs is not a love match, Nolani really doesn't care as long as he's happy and honest about it and doesn't give her any STDs or anything.
