Isshiri imagined flying would be something like this.

It was bright, cold, the wind whipping at his face, tiny particles of snow or ice or whatever the word was this high in the mountains diving under his scarf like sand, with only thin sticks of wood for support and guidance.

The payoff was worth the awkwardness of strapping them on and learning how to balance.

Well, it was, until a tree emerged from the snow and he couldn't remember how to stop.

At least it was only his wrist that broke. He'd had worse.

He couldn't wait to try again.

Oh, Isshiri. Bless. I guess sand-sledding doesn't come with the problem of sudden trees.
