Gina swept down the stairs on Joseph's arm and there she was. Vanessa.

She was as beautiful as ever, with that scarlet mouth and midnight hair, dress dipping low over her pale, flawless bosom. She was laughing, just at that moment, smiling wickedly at a pretty blushing girl, and for a disjointed moment Gina thought she was looking at herself.

She had always thought she'd be sick with fear or red with rage and yet, there was—nothing. Pity for the girl, and a vague thought of warning her, but for Vanessa, nothing.

Gina shook her head, and moved on.

Lovely vignette here. It's an interesting contrast between the scarlet mouth and the red rage image. It's like words passed from Vanessa's mouth that created the rage in Gina's heart. You also captured the visual image of the dress dipping low over the bosom perfectly...because Regency/Georgian dresses were all about the boobalage (Empire waists and whatnot).

I can see why Vanessa would have been so appealing, but man, I'm glad that Regency!Gina is past all that, now that she sees the poison within.

Anyway, this is amazing! I love how she thought she was looking at herself, and then how she thought there would be so many emotions and istead there is nothing.
I like your ending. Moving on. Is good. ^^
