Alyce grinned at them. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Ms. Smith,” she said, before turning toward the men. “You too, Mr. Corlioni, Sam.” With that, she left the living room, probably to retrieve her things.
Torey gave Sam a falsely-indignant look. “How come I’m ‘Mr. Corlioni’ and Eileen is ‘Ms. Smith,’” he said, gesturing between them, “but you’re ‘Sam’? What’s your secret?”
Eileen laughed. “I kind of want to know the answer to that too.”
Sam shrugged effortlessly, the essence of what can you do? “We’re the gayest people in this house,” he said, and grinned. “We have to stick together.”
