She watched Jennifer stir her coffee.
She was saying something, but Chloe wasn't paying attention. She just wanted to watch her. Her brown eyes alive with joy, small laugh lines appeared when she smiled.
“Chloe?”
“Huh?”
Jennifer smiled and placed her hand on hers.
“I was asking you if you wanted to come to New York with me during Spring Break.”
Chloe immediately perked up. “You want me to come with you?”
Jennifer laughed. “Why do you sound so shocked? I want you to meet Sam. I've told her all about you.”
Chloe withdrew her hands. “Oh really?”
“Yup. She really wants to meet you.”
Chloe smiled even though she didn't feel it. She knew she wouldn't exactly be alone with Jennifer, but she stifled at the though of sharing her with Samantha.
She knew she shouldn't be jealous. Jennifer hadn't led her on or anything. She had told her she had a girlfriend. Hell Chloe even had a boyfriend. But she couldn't stop herself from thinking about Jennifer.
A phone started ringing. Chloe reached into her pocket for her cell, but it wasn't hers. Jennifer pulled hers out of her bag.
“Hello?”
Chloe watched Jennifer as she talked on the phone. She was so animated, it didn't matter who she was talking to. Chloe decided right then that that was one of things she liked the most about Jennifer. Now if only she could keep her feelings platonic.
